Accessing Wellness Center Services
About Us
The Wellness Center is staffed by a team of medical and mental health professionals to assist you in addressing your physical and mental health concerns. In order to provide you with the highest quality of care, the Wellness Center utilizes an integrated treatment approach. Our multi‐disciplinary team of clinicians works collaboratively to optimize your wellness through seamless prevention and intervention. The Wellness Center values the privacy of students and the confidentiality of the personal and health information entrusted to us. Information is shared between services at the Wellness Center on a strict “need to know” basis. The Wellness Center Health and Counseling Departments collaboratively cross referrer students within our particular scope of practice on student need. Read our Wellness Center Scope of Services HERE.
There is no fee for health or counseling services and insurance is not required. Some lab tests and prescriptions may incur a cost to students and those costs will be fully explained during your visit.

Case Management
The Wellness Center has a new Case Management Program. Students will be seen for a variety of short- term intervention services to include advocacy, support, and referrals to community partners on and off campus.
If students are interested, they may contact the Wellness Center for an appointment with Lolita Hope, weekdays between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
Referrals are currently being accepted by phone and may also be emailed to Lolita Hope at lchope@maishirts.com.
Counseling Services
Counseling services are offered in-person and virtually at the Wellness Center. Walk in hours are 1:00-3:00 Monday – Friday. To make an appointment you may call 240-895-4289 or stop by to talk with our office associates. We see students for short term therapy and also offer a variety of group therapy each semester. If you require services beyond what we can offer we have a list of community referrals.
The Wellness Center has connected with ProtoCall, a toll free crisis hotline and available 24/7 by licensed professionals. To access ProtoCall Services, please dial 240-895-4200 or 855-826-1869 and you will be provided with immediate support, crisis intervention, and/or stabilization.
Health Services
Students may stop by the Wellness Center between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm weekdays to access self-care supplies. We offer over-the-counter medications, some personal care supplies, condoms, dental dams, and lube. There is no cost to students for self-care supplies.
Our Nurse Practitioner will see students by appointment Monday-Friday. Appointments are made by calling 240-895-4289. We see students for minor injuries and illnesses. If you need care beyond our scope we offer referrals to community services.

If you are experiencing a health emergency please call 911. The Wellness Center does not have urgent care or emergency services.
Medical Transportation
The Division of Student Affairs is providing transportation for students to local medical appointments in the Lexington Park, California, and Leonardtown, Maryland areas. Transportation is available with limited hours, Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters. To schedule transportation to your medical appointment email studentaffairs@maishirts.com at least two weeks in advance of your appointment with the date, time, and location of your appointment.
